Dislodging obstructions with the Lighted Forceps for Foreign Body Removal tool enables faster, more comfortable cleaning of the ear canal or nasal cavity.

The Lighted Forceps provides illumination, magnification and incorporates the grasping ability of forceps for foreign body removal.

Bionix Lighted Forceps helps clinicians take less time to see and safely remove ear canal and nasal obstructions. The forceps help quickly grasp and extract the foreign body relieving the patient at a possibly anxious time.

Indications

The Lighted Forceps is indicated when there is a need for removal of leafy or soft foreign bodies in the external ear canal or nares.

Contraindications

The following are absolute contraindications for use of the Lighted Foreign Body Removal Tool. • Button or hearing aid batteries are indications for emergent ENT consultation • Trauma to the ear canal or tympanic membrane The following diagnosis/conditions are relative contraindications the use the Lighted Foreign Body Removal Tool: • Tympanic membrane perforation • Foreign body larger than the width of the Foreign Body Removal Tool jaw opening • Foreign Body in contact with the tympanic membrane • Pus or exudate in the ear canal obscuring view of foreign body

  • What type of objects can the Lighted Forceps for Foreign Body remove?

    The Lighted Forceps is designed to accommodate up to a 5mm round object. They are designed to remove both round and leafy objects from the ear and nose.

  • Are curettes individually wrapped?

    No, 25 curettes come in a single pouch for easy access.

  • Are the forceps individually wrapped?

    No, the forceps come packaged in two bags of five for easy access.

  • How long will the light source last?

    The light source is the same high quality light source used for the Lighted Ear Curette with Magnification, which was designed to provide brilliant light for over 50 curettage procedures.

  • Are the Lighted Forceps for Foreign Body Removal sterile?

    Not necessary. The Lighted Forceps are not used in a sterile environment.

  • Is there a CPT code for foreign body removal?

    We recommend that you submit CPT code 30300 for potential reimbursement of foreign body removal of the nose and CPT code 69200 for potential reimbursement of foreign body removal of the ear.
